Rural Community Amaru

comuinidad-amaruLocation: The Commonwealth of Amaru is located east of the District of Pisaq. It is officially recognized by Supreme Resolution No. 78 of the Ministry of Labor and Indian Affairs, February 15, 1965. Amaru is 8 Km from Pisac by dirt road. It has a population of 1010 inhabitants.

Access from Pisac to the community is possible in about 30 minutes.

Amaru together with th communities of Paru Paru and Sacaca, are politically part of the Town Center Q’ello Q’ello. However the level of government, organization and autonomy is independent, and each of these villages forge their own community development. The community of Amaru, has the financial support of agriculture and livestock.

Tourism  has led forays into handicrafts made with the typical fabrics. The patron feast of the Commonwealth of Amaru, is the Lord of Exaltation held on September 14.

Amaru has schools for children, an initial school and two PRONOEI schools in two different sectors. In this community there are health promoters that meet the community the last Sunday of every month.

Amaru is located in the Andes at an altitude of 3835 meters. The ecosystem of the area is mountainous with alpine mountains. The rainy season lasts from November to March; the rest of the year is the dry season. The temperature ranges between 11 ° C to 13 ° C; daytime can reach 20 ° C; during the night it can go down to 5 ° C.

The area maintains its Andean landscapes shaped by glaciers, lakes and the Peruvian highlands. Also, you can appreciate the flora and fauna of the region. In the community you will find quaint cottages, traditional agricultural terraces and some ruins. This destination, predominantly Quechua, has kept their customs, traditions and rituals.
